Statue located in the garden of the castle of Ourique, intends to honor the first King of Portugal. Dom Afonso Henriques won the Portuguese independence against the Kingdom of León and was nicknamed "the Conqueror", for having done various achievements over more than 40 years of monarchy.

Statue located in the square with the same name, honoring this King and warrior not administrator. Dinis was involved in war with Castile in 1295 but will have given her in Exchange for the towns of Serpa and Moura. It was the first Portuguese King to sign their documents with the full name. It is assumed, then, that has been the first Portuguese King literate.
