The Pavilhão do Conhecimento (Knowledge Pavillion) is a Live Science Museum that makes science available to everyone. It opened in 1999 and has temporary and permanent exhibitions such as the "Exploratorium", the "See, Do, Learn"!", the "Live Mathematics" and the "Unfinished House".
The district of Lisbon felt very early the need of keeping the most important documentation about the city and its inhabitants (registers, royal charters, sentences, contracts, among many others). The diligence of the City Council of Lisbon is shown in the concretization of the computing the documents with image association, in promoting several cultural initiatives (publishing, exhibitions, science-culture events, workshops, debates, conferences).
Library that assembles about 26 thousand volumes of the work of Dulce Ferrão, important journalist, writer and historian. This cultural space also has a complete bibliographic selection about contemporary Portugal, with special attention to the history of the 1st Republic, Estado Novo and Colonial War. Other works of reference about themes such as the French Revolution, the world wars or the great classics of national and foreign literature can also be consulted here.
