The Cork Route takes you to discover the mysteries of ancient relationship between man and the Cork oak. Through the suggested routes will know the stories, the techniques of preparation and processing of Cork, a popular culture is intrinsically linked to this region. Cork is the common point in six areas of interest: heritage, nature, rural life, tradition, innovation and knowledge. Each polo addresses the cycle of Cork in its different aspects, since the Cork groves to the beautiful landscapes, covering factory. Has the peculiarity of being adapted public with reduced mobility and visually impaired.

Walking tour with 2 Km and a maximum altitude of 504 meters. After 1 Km walking by tarred road, there’s a beaten track on the right side leading to the forest. These first km are relaxing and the hiker may renew the oxygen and drink some of the chalybeate water in on of the fountains along the way and also visit the remains of an old sepulchre.

Narrow streets of stone, with prominent chimneys and furnaces, bent roofs, whitewashed walls, yards and “poiais”. Going out for a walk leads you to tranquillity, as the pure air carries the scent of rock-rose, rosemary and brushwood. The historical centre of São Brás de Alportel has ground, whitewashed houses with a traditional architecture and the palacelike buildings of the former manufactures and tradesmen of cork, with façades cored with glazed tiles, carved ashlar masonry and iron balconies.

Bicycle track with 20 Km. This are ways right in the heart of the mountain. It is an adventure full of surprises, with sudden slopes and steep hills. The itineraries are adapted to BTT riders and others.

This track is part of the Walking Tour on the Valley, by Muleteer ways with 28 Km. This ways allow you to get to know beautiful rural spots, with a unique microclimate.

Walking tour with 7 Km, by the tracks of the frontier north of the district. The rhythm is set by the silence and tranquillity of the landscape, characterized by the distant horizons.

Walking tour with 9 Km, starting at the Capela de São Romão. As you walk you can visit the mill’s track, the Alto da Arroteia belvedere and the narrow ways through the old houses.

A space reserved for motorcicles. It is possible to take peaceful walks or practise sports.
