Built on a barren field inside walls, with a square tower, this village features medieval granite houses. A special note to the pillory, the Forca (hanging) column, the Telhó and Toainde manors and the vestiges of the castle, a national monument.

It was at São Romão, in the Marvão House, that the benedictin monk Frei Bernardo de Vasconcelos (1902-1932), a writer and a mystique poet, was born. Some rural houses and old farms stand out.
