It belongs to the Natural Park of the Estrela Mountain and it is the highest massif in the country, with a maximum altitude of 1991 metres in the Torre (Tower). This is where the Mondego, Zêzere and Alva rivers start. It is mostly composed of granite, even though there is also also schist. A special note to the rocks, the cliffs, the colourful woods, the altitude pastures, lakes, natural lagoons (vestiges of the glaciers) and more.
