This ancient limestone massif was shaped by time and weather. Then came out true works of natural art, geological value, aesthetic and scientific. The natural sculptures add a vegetation cover consisting of Mediterranean vegetation.

This 14th century construction was enlarged afterwards. It possesses a closed yard with Gothic arcade. On the yard corner there is a Renaissance pavilion with a small dome. The classification a Building of Public Interest includes the Palace, a vaulted chapel, two decorative fountains, an obelisk raised for the King D. João VI and Senhor da Serra chapel existing on the garden.

This residential estate was built by orders of D. João de Castro, viceroy in India and afterwards it suffered profound changes. It is possible to find several chapels throughout the estate, one of which is named Nossa Senhora do Monte and it is a construction under the Renaissance style, from 1542. It has a circular plan and on its inside it is possible to see six columns with capitals and ashlars in tiles from the XVII century.
