This space aims to maintain the initial collections, mostly of archaeology, even though it is currently more devoted to modern and contemporary Portuguese artworks, namely of painting and sculpture, including important artists such as António Carneiro and Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.
This equipment is the result of the recovery of an olive oil mill of the fifth meeting, in the parish of Gondar. With an exhibition area of about 400 m2, includes sacred art, pieces of black pottery and utensils and artifacts relating to professions and rural activities, intending to demonstrate, appealingly, the history of the region, in agricultural terms, ways of life and work techniques. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum promotes several activities and events linked to the agricultural calendar, as the grape harvest and the ground, as well as actions on traditional cuisine.
Gatilho is a collective movement of Amarante that has as its mission the promotion of the city artists, the artistic education and the promotion of the city of Amarante. The association intends to enrich the cultural agenda of Amarante with the organization of events in various artistic fields, such as animation, plastic arts, theater, literature, music, and to help "leveraging" local artists with interventions outside and inside the city.
