Localizada no concelho de Gouveia, numa das encostas da Serra da Estrela, a aldeia de Melo é conhecida por ser a “aldeia eterna” de Vergílio Ferreira, destacado escritor que ali nasceu e onde se encontra sepultado.
Pedestrian path on the edge of São Mamede Natural Park. The path includes the passage by the castle of Marvão, the walls of Castelo de Vide, bridge in Ribeira de Galegos, Casal da Torre. Takes place between the banks of some rivers, such as the Sever.
Always rail between 750 and 900 meters in altitude, which spans the entire area of the Sierra Devassa, where the largest number of lagoons of São Miguel Island. Among them: Lagoa do Canário, Lagoa das Mares, shallow lagoon and the lagoon of coal.
A pedestrian trail on the eastern part of the Natural Park of São Mamede. The trail passes by the Castle of Marvão, the walls of the Castle of Vide, the bridge on the Ribeira de Galegos, the Casal da Torre (Tower Farm) and other magnificent landscapes of the banks of som brooks and rivers, namely the Sever.
A village with rather typical rural houses, where stones are used on the walls. The mother church and the chapel of Our Lady of Amparo stand out. A special note to the famous "queijo da serra" (Estrela mountain cheese).
As one follows the Lima river and heads to its spring to the east, which is the say the border with Spain, is impressed by the contrast in the landscape: from the green fields of Ponte de Lima to the rough "watercolour" of Lindoso. Nonetheless, the most impressive feature is the fabulous views one has from the Serra Amarela (Yellow Hill). From there, one views the biggest reservoir in the Iberian Peninsula (the Lindoso Reservoir) and a wide part of the Lima valley. The most daring may try and ascen to the antenae.
Aldeia de montanha, situada a cerca de 1.500 metros de altitude, que apresenta uma bonita paisagem sobre o planalto e a montanha. Localizada no coração da Serra da Estrela, aqui funciona um resort de inverno.
