Place with several services for the community. It has information about the municipality, loans, photocopies, reading room, audiovisual section, story room, among others. It also has automated catalogs to make searching faster and more efficient.

The Palmela Municipal Library was opened in 1990, occupying the S. João schools building in Palmela.

This library has thirty thousand books, from the most important works to dictionaries and monographies. Its most valuable book is the printing of "Os Lusíadas" by Emílio Biel. There is an exhibitions room where there are temporary educational exibitions, conferences and music. Aside the library there is also a Museum with archaeological artefacts, clothings and regional craftswork.

The Municipa Library of Penafiel has reading rooms, audiovisual areas, a space for the children and the adolescents, an auditorium and a bar.
