Located in the chapel of the Ordem Terceira, by the Convent of Saint Francis, it has collection of Flammish sculptures of the 16th century and other religious statues of the 17th and 18th centuriesm golden carvings, tiles and paintings. It also features religious furnitures, 18th century religious clothes and silver objects of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
In this space you can enjoy a remarkable collection of artifacts of Whale bones and teeth and carved sperm whale. "Scrimshaw" is the name of the technique of carving whale teeth, formerly of hobby sailors and whalers. It also includes an exhibition of books with dedications and recollections of the sailors who visited Peter Café Sport.
The space, which is underground, was opened in August 2008 and aims to recreate and make known to the visitor, through the use of multimedia resources, the eruption of 1957 which occurred while along the coast of Faial. Part of the interpretation centre of Capelinhos Lighthouse, with a privileged view over the landscape of volcanic phenomenon results. It also includes an auditorium where you can see a 3D movie about the formation of the Earth, a living room with temporary exhibitions, and the various interpretative exhibition halls: "headlights", "eruption", "the volcano", "Volcanoes in the world", "Açores" and "Fayal".
